Requests for word reduction
One of the most important stipulations many journals have is that of a word count. Often, authors are unable to/fail to comply with the journal’s word limit and end up writing manuscripts that substantially overshoot the limit. In such cases, authors do find it difficult to revise their papers, and Prof. Mcloughlin has some great advice on how you could go about it.

As per the peer reviewers’ comments, my article exceeds the prescribed word limit (67,000 words, against a limit of 55,000 words). According to the journal's instructions for authors, if the number of words is exceeded, it would be considered on a case-by-case basis. How can I tell the journal editor to consider my case?
